Happy Spring.
After a cold winter, while the weather has begun to feel beautifully refreshing in my neck of the woods, it’s also been more intense than usual with turvy winds.
Have you felt the shiftiness of this season, too?
Yet there is also a typical sense with all the spring-sprouting elements falling into place.
My book, The Radiant Woman Shines, a collection of personal reflections and experiences, is taking longer to get off the ground, but each step is a step in the right direction. As I do my best to stay in my lane and in the moment, I, too, reflect.
Did you keep a diary as a young girl? I recall having one, and later, as a budding to full-out teen, I remember writing poems and notes to my friends to express myself. My innate good-girl tendancies shined through amid my sometimes rebelliousness. I strived to fit in and be accepted.
Although I hadn’t observed this then, I naturally embraced the everyday magic of conversing with adults, peers, and young ones. As I got older, I further leaned into trying new ways to express myself, even if I stepped with trepidation.
I was responsible when I babysat, weeded in my yard as part of my allowance, and later worked in an accessory gift shop, yet I was not goal-oriented. I loved my weekly jazz class and rock and pop music. I was interested in the boys and hoped that a special someone would find interest in me.
In high school, I favored required English and practical electives like typing, home economics and photograpy. One of my favorite classes was “Communications,” which not everyone chose, but it made me feel vulnerable in a good way. I thrived when learning in a less rigid environment, picking up skills that would later become valuable in life.
It was in that communications class during my senior year that we were assigned to keep a journal. Along with my peers, we were also encouraged to express our emotions aloud in smaller groups in a somewhat safe space, with a teacher guiding us in a relaxed classroom setting.
Throughout our lives, our words and those of others allow us to process emotions and see ourselves in the stories we read while navigating life’s trials and tribulations.
- As we navigate life’s climb, each step is a testament to our ability to embrace the unknown and transform apprehension into trust. We not only have the opportunity to embrace cherished traditions, but we can also invite a touch of everyday magic into our lives.
- Trust in your journey, and you will find that even the unknown can hold beauty, magic and wonder.
- Gut instincts can transform our real-time experiences from fear to faith. For instance, there was a time when I wanted to stop writing, and if I had, I wouldn’t be in your inbox today as a soon-to-be first-time author.
- Whether you opt for yoga and meditation lifestyle practices or any other physical and heartwarming self-expression practices, commit yourself to finishing what you’ve started in its unique form or show up in your authenticity, taking action to remove our facades through the art of communication keeps us progressing as human beings.
Keep going, keep shining; it’s worth the climb. Even when you stumble, don’t worry; you are not behind. Today is your day to shimmer, shimmy, and shine.
Before we know it, the cherry blossoms will bloom.
Big love, xoxoxo
